A Psalm Across America/ A Poem (Part 2 of 2)

There is a quaking in America.
We rise to meet her
palms faced up,
Our children’s eyes open
Breathing in this
hard-won early morning.
Eyes greeting the sun
Glinted through these tears
We look to see
plant seeders
filling out banquets of fields
They stretch beyond a horizon
in bursts of joy and exaltation.

First Book (about Coming Out in the South) gets published on Tuesday! 😍🙌

Surf’s up, shirt’s off! I submitted my first book to Amazon, last night, and it will be published on Tuesday 😀🙃. It took a tumultuous, exhilarating, soul-defining  year-and-a-half to write, “Break the Violent Fetters: Life Beyond the Closet and the Pulpit.” But it has taken a lifetime of experiences,  of identities, ideas, self-doubt, coming out,…

I Left my Heart in Mexico City

My last day in Mexico City, and the fountain at Plaza Luis Cabrera, the place where Jack Kerouac and the Beat writers found their inspiration- has been drained. Tonight the celebration de Virgin of Guadalupe continues while the wellspring of intellectual perspiration has run dry. It seems symbolic. A secret bidding to leave- hidden in…

It’s Now or Never/Break on Through to the Otherside

I planted a garden in Texas, this past spring/summer. It began with raking leaves, after a few strong storms felled large branches in the backyard. I was also raking and pulling weeds as a way to clear my mind, a way to figure out what my next steps and paths would be on my journey….

Setting Free the Captive/Free Man in Mexico

I am sitting at a bench in Chalputepec Park overlooking the lake. My edible is kicking in. I only have 6 or 7 left. The day is beautiful. Sunny with a cool breeze. Children blowing bubbles, laughter and hundreds of voices heard in the near distance. I believe I’m supposed to stay in Mexico for…

This Harvest Of Woman Born (Part Two)

A farmer plants his seeds knowing in time green stalks will rise.
Bury your worries in the secret garden
Herbs burst from soil, strong and unbaptized
In time fall wind blows away all blooms
Your children thrive in houses and streetsides.
Each a thread woven in a street beggars’ looms.
Our blood is mixed with your’s flowing and entwined
as an ancient fermented wine these streams have flown born in eons before our own.
Through thousands of lines Children, birds, & trees
keep finding a different way to shine.

Palace in Graffiti/ Come to My Window

I have been in Mexico City for ten days now. I spent the last three months roadtripping America- which was incredible. That journey profoundly shifted me in certain ways. I was heading to the Pacific Northwest, but something, a lot of things, just clicked here. I think I’ve found my city- for now. 🇲🇽💫 How…

On the Road Again/ A Prelude before Mexico

This is just a very quick summary post- but will he expounded in depth in later posts, blogs, and my second book.
